Arctic
Tour Description:
Spitsbergen Arctic.
If you have never been to the Arctic Archipelago before it’s a must, situated only some 500 miles from the North Pole.
If you have any concerns about global warming come and see for yourself, and help to protect this fragile environment and see one of the world’s most endangered animals which are at the top of the food chain the Polar Bear.
In the winter this environment can be most hostile but we travel in midsummer with 24 hours of daylight and clear blue skies on most days.
We will be spending time looking for all of the Arctic bird species, plus Whales, Seals, Walrus, Reindeer, Arctic Fox and of course the Polar Bear, also calling at old whaling stations and other historical sites.
Our tours will attempt to sail about around the Spitsbergen Islands (depending on the ice conditions) on board our Russian ice-strengthened vessel; this voyage will be a life changing experience.
On all of our trips so far, we have found between 11 to 21 Polar Bears.
