Another great trip properly the trip I have led to BC Canada, after our arrival to Campbell River Vancouver Island the following day we went on our first whale watch, this was a most successful watch, finding some 200 Pacific White sided Dolphins trapped by six Orca’s at the end of a estuary, we watched them trying to hunt down the Dolphins for over one hour eventually catching only one or two of them.

The next morning we caught our seaplane for our next part of this exciting trip to see the Grizzly Bears, again we were not disappointed watching these bears catching Salmon and teaching there cubs to do the same, we also photographed Black Bear with her cub, another highlight was watching and photographing the River Otter and her family at close quarters, we were also able to photograph Bold Eagles and Herons at close quarters.

Two days later we then travelled up to Prince Rupert to photograph Humpback Whales we spent some eight hours over two days watching and photographing them in small groups some with calves but the highlight was these whales breaching many times.

Then back to Vancouver for two nights visiting Stanley Park in the afternoon, the next day we split up into two groups one group went Orca watching for the day again it was a very successful day seeing many pods, the other group went to the Capilano Suspension Bridge which is some 80m above the waters and 150m span (not for the faint hearted) across the raging waters of the Capilano Canyon, afterwards going back to town to see the famous steam working clock tower in Gastown.

On our last day in the morning we went to Granville Island to visit its quaint shops and markets to do some final gift shopping before catching our return flight home.

Just back from a exciting 11 day trip to Sri Lanka, we were picked up at the airport by our guide Sam and put into a bus which was our main mode of transport other than the national parks. All our hotels were of a high standard but not without one or two minor problems which were corrected immediately.

We started off covering some culture which was very interesting, our main reason for our visit was to see Leopards and we wasn't disopointed, finding some 12 individuals and 1 only Sloth Bear. Our other sighting were also good lots of monkey's and a big array of beautiful birds.

Another successful one day event, a full group photographed 9 species of birds of prey.

This is our 3rd year of haveing an exhibition at this event but 10 years for the garden to be opened, each year we have more and more visitors and raising even more money for the National Gardens charities, this year we raised £3320.19. Many thanks for all that helped to make this a successful day.

Sunday 22nd May, 7 of us had a great day photographing Snow Leopard, Lynx, Serval, Puma, Pallas Cat, Geoffroys Cat and Clouded Leopard. We were also lucky to photograph a wild Fox who happend to be passing by and didn't have to much fear of man.

Just back from having a great time on the Isle of Mull, the sun was out all day every day for one week, the wildlife was the best one could exspect to find, just in one day alone we recorded over 70 species of birds, the best being White-tailed Eagle, Golden Eagle, Buzzard, Peregrine, Mergansers, Red-throated Diver, Great-northern Diver, Great Skua,  Turtle Dove, Corncrake, Sea Otter, Arctic Hare, Red Deer, Grey Seals, Porpoise and Bottle Nosed Dolphines just to name a few. We will be going back in May 2012 anyone interested please call Peter on 01623 411215 ASAP as this trip will book up early.

Just returned back from Finland on a six day break, at this time of the year it can be very cold we had -20/30 every day one has too get dressed up for it, but its just one great big Christmas Card with snow coverd trees and landscapes. The wildlife was also excellent we managed to photograph Golden Eagles, Siberian Jays and Tits, Willow Tits, Greater-spotted Woodpeckers, Hawk Owls, Snowy Owls, Crossbills, Pine Grosbeak, Waxwing, Red Squirrels, Otters, Wolverine, Arctic Fox, European Wolves and European lynx.

After meeting at WTM yesterday we have come up with some exciting new destinations at home and abroad.

We met Vincent our guide and driver at Windhoek Airport for the start of our 15 day safari, starting in Sossusvlei with a trek up Dune 45, then after lunch we walked over the Dunes to a magnificent view of Dead Pan, the following day we arrived in Walvis Bay to photograph the Flamingo’s at the Salt Pans, we woke up to wind & rough sea next morning which meant our boat trip to see Dolphins was now called off, so we headed to Dune 7.

We then went up the Skeleton Coast calling at Cape Cross to see the Fur Seals, arriving at our next lodge Camp Kipwe set in a hillside built around large boulders, the next day we drove down the river bed to find the Desert Elephants, we found Rosie’s herd heading for the water dam where the local villagers had pumped water in for them earlier.

The following two days were spent in Etendeka Concession Park where we saw Klipspringers, Giraffe, Elephants, Mountain Zebra, Springbok, Steenbok, Ostriches, Kudu & Oryx.  At night we sat around the camp fire where our dinner was cooking and afterwards we viewed the stars & moon from Dennis’s telescope as well as learning a little about the sky at night.

Our next three days were spent in Etosha National Park where we saw Black Faced Impala, Dik Dik, Wildebeest, Warthog, Eland, Jackal, Ground Squirrels and a Camelion.   At the watering holes we saw 1 large Bull Elephant chasing a Black Rhino, 40 Elephants appearing in the distance heading towards us at the same water hole, 30 Zebra drinking at the next, a Lion at the next being chased by an Elephant and moving on to the next where 16 Giraffe’s gathered for a drink, we then saw a Caracal Cat and just a few minutes later two Leopards.

Our next stop was Okonjima Africat Foundation where we saw Leopard and 11 Cheetah’s we also saw Porcupines from the night hide and many birds from our chalet balconies.

At the next lodge we were able to walk to within a few feet of two large White Rhino’s.

We finished our trip with a lovely meal at Joe’s Beerhouse in Windhoek.

Tigers and Monuments March 2010.

Another very successful trip with an excellent team and company.
16 clients plus Susie set off to India on 19^th March one day before the airline strike started  all went well with no problems with BA at all.
On arriving time was spent in Delhi sightseeing before flying onto Nagpur and Transferred to Pench National Park. It wasn’t long into the next day before all of my clients found there first Tiger it’s such a relief to find the first one.
And things just got better as time went on, moving to Kanha National Park and eventually to Bandhavgarh National Park. In the three national parks we found some 20 individual Tigers including first year cubs.
A few of our clients were lucky enough to have a Leopard walk leisurely in front of their vehicle what an experience; we found two over the trip.
4 Jungle Cats were also seen, two other excellent sighting were Sloth Bear and numerous Dhole (Wild Dogs). Well over a 100 species of birds were also seen.
Eventually we went to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal one morning and evening to photograph at sunrise and sunset. Onward back to Delhi for some more monuments and shopping before flying back to the UK.

Tanzania December 2009.

Other than my unfortunate problem listed below, we all had a great time in Tanzania.
The weather was generally good for us mainly sunshine with the occasional shower.
We found a varied selection of birds and all the big game, including Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, Lion and Cheetah of which we had excellent views.
Our driver guides both Bill and Alex looked after us extremely well and seemed to know where to find our wildlife.

Holiday insurance.

Dear All,
Lessons learnt from my unfortunate experience of a heart attack on my recent trip to Tanzania December 2009.
It is advisable to check your holiday insurance cover.
Please make sure that you have advised your insurance company of any prior medical conditions.
Please carry with you your insurance policy details and your doctor’s telephone number.
Making sure that it has adequate cover for all circumstances, these include flying doctor services, evacuation from ships if on the Arctic and Antarctic tours all medical expenses including hospitals.
A credit card, to cover any immediate payments and any repatriation costs.
Fortunately for me I had adequate cover.
I was first flown to Arusha hospital and then onto a Nairobi hospital, I found both to be excellent hospitals, the cleanleness was second to none, all the nursers and doctors were some of the most caring I have ever met.
Susan had to stay at the Silver Springs Hotel in Nairobi this was opposite to the hospital, I also had to have a 3 day rest bite their before flying home. The staff couldn't do enough for both Susan and I, they sent me flowers to me from the hotel and even two of the staff came to visit and bought flowers and a card, this I found most humbleing for total strangers to visit me saying prayers and well wishes for me from them.
I would like to take this oppourtunity to thank all for there help and best wishes to both the hospitals and the hotel.

Sorry to say that Skokholm Island is now closed for the foreseeable future, please now refer to Skomer Island.

We had a successful workshop in Northumberland and Scotland. On our way we stopped at Sunderland Airshow were we were able to photograph the Red Arrows and Vulcan Bomber along with many other interesting old and new planes. Continuing up to the Farne Island and photographed Puffins, Gulls and Guillemots etc, carrying onto Bass Rock, just to photograph Gannets so many to choose from. Then we went into Scotland and did some landscape photography and Red Kites, the weather was extreamly kind to us were as most other places in the country had heavy rain storms.

Now back from another sussessful trip to Spitsbergen. On leaving Longyearban our expedition leader decided to go south first due to heavy ice in the north, we got as far as Barentsoya along the east coast, before being beaton by heavy ice and had to retreat south and up the west coast, we managed to get as far north as 80 degree's before again being beaton by heavy ice. We spent 14 nights at sea, the day's were long, maily with 24 hours of sunshine but we did also experience a few grey days with snow storms which made photography interesting when photographing Polar Bears.
In all, we found 19 Polars bears, 2 large hallouts of Walrus, also Bearded Seals, Ringed Seal, Harp Seal, Minke Whales, Arctic Fox family and Reindeer.
Birds to name a few, all Skua's, Sabines Gull, Grey Phalarope's, Black Guillemot, Brunnich's Guillemot, Little Auk, Snow Buntings, Red-throated Divers, Ivory Gulls.
We were also fortune enough to witness one Polar Bear attempting to catch a young Walrus from it's mother but he gave up in the end. And another Polar Bear waiting near to a seal ice hole, and eventully to run dive at the seal and pulled the seal from it's breather hole and kill the seal, not very nice but it's nature, this is an extreamly rare siteing.
